Youth Writing for Justice

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM 2026-09-17 18:00:002026-09-17 19:30:00America/New_YorkYouth Writing for JusticePublic Advocacy Center/PILOT Youth Writing for Justice
with special guest NY State Court of Claims Judge/Acting Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho. Touro Law Center and the Herstory Writers Network have developed a semester-long pro bono project that enables law students to become part of a unique and powerful movement that uses a story-based strategy for change. As part of the program, law students write side-by-side with family court-involved young people from Justice Camacho’s Concepts Court, an expansion of the youth incarceration-diversion program on Long Island. The law students collaborate with the young people, mentoring and inspiring them to share their stories. Herstory Writers Network, based at the Public Advocacy Center, offers community writing workshops focusing on memoir and storytelling to empower individuals and address social issues, celebrating the writing works of local youth.Room 209Touro Lawluke@starwars.com
